How can I reduce data usage with LUT cleanup? (iOS)

Previously, when LUTs were applied in projects, LumaFusion was storing more data than needed, which caused the project database to grow larger than necessary. This behavior could cause certain performance issues while editing, like delayed edits and lagging on the timeline.

For version 5.2, we've changed how LumaFusion manages LUTs to reduce the amount of data used. This process will be done automatically for new projects created in 5.2, but for existing projects, a manual cleanup will be required to release this data. To do this:

  1. Open Help and Settings
  2. Navigate to the Cleanup tab
  3. Select Cleanup Duplicate LUT Data (If this is not present, no duplicate data is being stored)

A pop-up will then appear that indicates how many LUTs are using duplicate storage. You can select Cleanup, which will remove up to 200 duplicate LUTs at a time. The storage recovery process that the cleanup initiates can be very time consuming, so we don't allow a large number of LUTs to be cleaned at once.

After a cleanup is completed, you may notice occasional delays for some time after edits for some time, due to the way the system incrementally recovers storage from the project database.

Note: We advise that customers with a large number of LUTs perform the cleanup process regularly, even on a daily basis. However, it is important to avoid repeated cleanups at on, as this may result in delays in editing until storage is recovered.
