What types of media are supported by LumaFusion?
Supported Video Formats for Import
LumaFusion supports import of any files compatible with iOS (not just those created on iOS). This includes supported video formats up to 4k (4096x2160) resolution:
|| H.264, H.265/HEVC, HEVC with transparency,
ProRes 422, 422LT, 422HQ, 4444 is supported in
iOS 15 on iPad Pro on some devices.

Unsupported Video Formats include:
.wmv, ProRes, .avi, .mkv, flv, AV1, DivX, VP9 and any Interlaced video.
XAVC and AVCHD (.mts files) are not supported by LumaFusion and would require transcoding to MP4 or MOV using the H.264 or H.265 (HEVC) codec.

Supported Video Formats for Export
LumaFusion supports export in H.264 or H.265 (HEVC). Newer iPads and iPhones support H.265 (HEVC) encoding), including with transparency (Quicktime .mov file format only). Note: For HEVC with Transparency, due to current iOS issues with 4K clips, we recommend limiting export resolution to 1080p when using transparency.

All audio in movies is currently encoded using AAC. For audio, AAC encoding in an .m4a file or PCM encoding in a .wav file is supported.
With iOS 14.1 and above, and on compatible devices*, LumaFusion supports 10-bit color processing, including on export. This includes SDR and HDR color spaces:
- Standard – Rec. 709 (8-bit or 10-bit)
- Wide Gamut HDR-HLG (including iPhone 12 Pro/Max Dolby Vision)
- Wide Gamut HDR10 (PQ)
- Wide Gamut HDR – P3 D65 HLG
*10-bit compatible devices include:
- iPhone SE 2nd generation
- iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone X or later
- iPad mini 5th generation
- iPad 7th generation or later
- iPad Air 3 or later
- iPad Pro 10.5" or later
